Lava Tube Shield is a tube-shaped thermal barrier product designed to protect sensitive components in environments with excessive ambient temperatures and direct heat. The material is a specially formulated Heatshield Products fibrous thermal barrier weave made from volcanic rock. The basalt fiber allows Lava Tube to protect components from continuous temperatures of 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, and intermittent temperatures of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes Lava Tube an ideal and superior alternative to silicon-based thermal barrier heat sleeves in applications above 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Lava Tube is also extremely durable against abrasions and chemical exposure.

Lava Tube shield has been designed with a special hook-and-loop fastener system, so it can be installed without the need for disassembling components or removing lines and hoses. Lava Tube is available in four diameters ranging from 1/2-inch to 1 1/2-inches, and either 3-foot long or 10-foot long rolls. It can be easily cut to length, but we strongly recommend using a heat shield tape or heat shrink on the end to prevent fraying.
