We got a chuckle about the different forms of haulers for the midget teams! From the largest of toters and tractor trailers, to just loading the midget in the back of a pick-up truck! That's just a few of the things that make the Chili Bowl interesting. Teams range from small to large, from budget to well funded. It all works. Much of the Chili Bowl comes down to luck.
A resourceful team decided to haul their car in the bed of their pick-up truck! We give this team a lot of credit for ingenuity!
Sammy Swindell had some tires for sale. One of the neat things about the Chili Bowl is the interaction between teams and fans.
Not to be undone, there are even engines for sale!
The pits are busy non-stop, from fans, team members and crew.
This is a shot of Keith Kunz adjusting the shocks on the midget driven by Kyle Larson.
Midgets on display waiting for their turn to qualify.
View from the stands.
Grandstands are full! It's best to buy advance tickets, but you can also buy them at the track. Many people, especially teams and crew, simply watch from the monitors inside the pits.
Oklahoma was bitter cold this year! The drive to and from the Chili Bowl was challenging for many travelers.
We are already looking forward to next year's Chili Bowl which is scheduled for January 12-18, 2025. See you then!

If you enjoy racing, look forward to attend the Jennerstown Speedway Complex in 2024 for USAC Silver Crown racing!
Jennerstown Speedway Complex is a beautiful facility with plenty of parking. 90racing is headquartered near Pittsburgh, PA, so we consider Jennerstown one of our home tracks. With a rich history dating back to its opening in 1922, this track has almost as much history as USAC. The complex features a half-mile asphalt oval track that provides the perfect setting for high-speed racing.
USAC Silver Crown cars look similar to sprint cars, but are different in many ways. They are roughly 200 pounds heavier than a sprint car, have a longer wheel base and carry a much larger fuel cell. The fuel cell on a Silver Crown car holds 75-80 gallons of methanol, so their range is 100+ miles without the need for a fuel stop. Plus, each driver must factor in the fuel load at the start of the race to the finish, so strategy is important. The balance of the car will change dramatically throughout the race as it burns the extra weight of up to 500 pounds of methanol to very little at the finish.
The other difference is that Silver Crown cars must start the race under their own power. If any car requires a push start, the rules dictate that it start must start at the rear of the field. The engines are started by crew using a hand held starter. For fans, it is exciting to hear the command "Start Your Engines!" at the beginning of each 100 mile race! Once the engine is running, crew will hand push the cars to give them enough momentum to get the car in gear.
The USAC Silver Crown series has captivated race fans for decades. These powerful machines date back to the Indy 500. In the 1960's, Indy car design went to low-slung, mid-engine cars derived from Formula One technology of that time, so in 1971 USAC designated a separate championship (Silver Crown today) for the descendants of the classic upright, front-engine, tube-frame beasts that had dominated Indy car competition for decades.
Whether you're a die-hard racing fan or simply looking for a thrilling day out, Jennerstown Speedway Complex and the USAC Silver Crown races are sure to deliver. Mark your calendar for August 10th 2024, gather your friends and family, and prepare for a day of excitement and camaraderie.
]]>Klotz R-50 is a lubricant developed exclusively for high-RPM, two-stroke racing engines with power valves. It uses a formulation that has been continually refined throughout Klotz’s six decades of experience in motorsports. Its anti-wear chemistry prevents scuffing and protects bearings and piston rings. A blend of dispersants reduces smoke generation and mitigates high-temperature carbon and varnish deposits.
This formulation can be used with racing motorcycles, ATV/UTVs, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, karts, and micro sprints.
Robin from 90racing used Klotz in his entire career in karting, and still does! These shots were taken in the 1980's. Robin is still heavily involved in karting, not only as a Tech Director at Pitt Race, but also plans to run WKA Kart Week 2024 at Daytona next month.
Racing runs in Ryan's blood, as his father, Dave Blaney, and grandfather, Lou Blaney, were both successful racers in their own right. From a young age, Ryan showed a natural talent for racing, and it wasn't long before he began making a name for himself on the track.
Ryan is a 3rd generation driver whose family is from the Western Pennsylvania / Eastern Ohio area, not far from 90racing. I took photos of Ryan's Dad, Dave, back in 1991 during a World of Outlaws sprint car tour at Lernerville Speedway. Ryan Blaney was born on December 31, 1993, so he wasn't even born when these photos were taken!
Ryan Blaney comes from a close-knit family that has always been involved in racing. His father, Dave Blaney, had a successful career in NASCAR, competing in the Cup Series for many years. Prior to Dave's career in NASCAR, he was a formidable competitor in Sprint Cars. Dave's father, Lou Blaney, was a renowned sprint car and modified driver, further adding to the family's racing legacy.
Dave Blaney is from Hartford, Ohio, not far from our headquarters at 90racing! From a young age, he had a passion for racing and quickly made a name for himself in the dirt track racing circuit. Blaney's talent and determination led him to compete in various racing series, including the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and NASCAR. Dave's brother Dale also races sprint cars, and both are still still active on the dirt track circuit.
90racing would like to wish Ryan and his family continued success in racing!
]]>These photos are from a WoO race at Lernerville in 1990. We happened to catch a quick pick-up game of hoops between Mark and Dale Blaney. Many of you know that Dale was a 4th round draft pick with the LA Lakers back in 1994 before he decided to go racing full time.
Mark played a little trick on Dale, hence the sneaky grin on his face.
If you are not familiar with the name Mark Kinser, he is a retired sprint car driver hailing from Indiana. Steve Kinser is Mark's cousin. Mark won the 1996 and 1999 World of Outlaws championship and was runner-up in 1991, 1998, and 2001. Mark is also the 1996, 1999 and 2000 Knoxville Nationals champion as well the winner of the 2001 King's Royal at Eldora.
]]>Team photos after the race!
The weather was perfect for The Beaver River Grand Prix at PittRace. If you are in the area, please be sure to come to the track at this time next year. Spectators can gain admission for free, with plenty of sight lines and bleachers to watch the racing action. Picnic tables abound if you want to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day with family.
]]>Nolan recently graduated from RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering while earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. We look forward to watching Nolan continue to excel in his future endeavors. He has a great future ahead of him!

]]>Before Daytona International Speedway was built in 1959, auto races were contested on the firm sands of Daytona Beach. In 1903, cars were a luxury item that mostly only very wealthy people could afford.
According to Daytona historian Leonard Lempel, “The automobile had been around, but the problem was, it was just a play toy for the rich." When Henry Ford invented the assembly line in 1913, the price of cars dropped significantly. It was at this time that cars became affordable for the middle class.
Enjoy some of these photos from that era! If you plan a trip to Daytona, be sure to visit the restaurant, Racing's North Turn, which is the precise location where the first NASCAR sanctioned stock car and motorcycle racing took place from 1948-58.
